Manager, Events & Sponsorship

JOB SUMMARY

Ensure the execution of all commercial events, exhibitions and fairs aimed at enhancing EMTS’s corporate image/brand.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tactical

• Keep abreast of global and local best practice as it relates to events management.

• Assist in continuously reviewing the unit’s activities, make recommendations for improvement and implement approved initiatives to ensure enhanced performance of the team.

• Assist in identifying required resources, personnel and funding to achieve the unit’s strategy.

• Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including outsourced event managers.


Operational

• Coordinate all activities involved in planning EMTS’s events including preparation of event plans/programmes, communication plans, media material, venue selection and post-event evaluation.

• Identify opportunities for EMTS to participate in local and international events with the aim of enhancing brand image/visibility and proffer recommendations to the Head, Events and Sponsorship.

• Liaise with the Sponsorship, Communications and Merchandising teams in ensuring adequate and prompt supply of promotional items for events and fairs.

• Ensure the distribution of appropriate promotional/gift items at EMTS’s events to foster goodwill and enhancement of the organisation’s corporate image.

• Liaise with the visual advertising team to ensure adequate visibility of all planned events.

• Implement the Events unit’s work programs and plans in line with agreed upon procedures and guidelines.

• Plan and manage the human and material resources of the unit to optimise performance, morale and enhance productivity.

• Manage inter-functional relations to ensure synergy across the various departmental functions.

• Provide leadership and guidance to team members and manage subordinate’s performance towards the achievement of overall team objectives

• Monitor and control the budgetary needs of the Events unit.

• Prepare/compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the Head, Events and Sponsorship.

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head, Events and Sponsorship.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• First degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

• Postgraduate/ professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.

• Six (6) to eight (8) years work experience, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role.
